Throwback Video of Republic Day 2020

Kids are the flag bearers of pure love- they give unconditional love, they seek pure love and this reflects in their patriotism too. . CAA or no CAA, teach your kids compassion so they can embrace diversity with empathy. Help them extract a zillion reasons from the daily routine which can make them dance and jump with joy.

Art Therapy

O nce academics were stabilized, we started exploring options for all-round, holistic development . We have collaborated with different individuals and organizations across various fields to conduct workshops for the children. In 2018, we conducted a workshop almost every month.

Celebrate with NGO

Image
T hey may not be as privileged as you and me but they are for sure more excited for the festivities. The kids at @parkshala are prepping up once again to brighten up homes this Diwali. We have an earnest request for you all. This time around, please don’t negotiate on the prices of the diyas with the street vendors. How about we light up their homes this Diwali by paying a penny more. It’s the least we could do.

Child Protection

Image
According to Supreme Court’s Report on POCSO cases, in the first half of the year, i.e between January 1, 2019 and June 30, 2019, over 24,000 cases of child abuse were registered in India. Drill this number down and it would send a chill down your spine- one kid in every 5 minutes is sexually abused in India! . So while you and I are slogging through the day or browsing through the dressed up wi ndow displays at malls or nibbling on popcorn during a movie or just resting ‘em eyes, there are hundreds of children facing  #sexualabuse . It’s an alarming situation and it’s absolutely important now to educate the kids and their parents about respect and consent, about  #goodtouchbadtouch  and a little extra about  #selfdefence .

Every Child Healthy

Image
"Every Child Healthy" is a Parkshala initiative dedicated towards health, nutrition and hygiene of underprivileged children. Under this initiative, we focus on healthcare by conducting medical camps for the children at Parkshala . We have collaborated with Icare eye hospital, Noida and Smile India Dental, Delhi. The children who need further examinations are taken to respective hospitals till they are completely treated. These services are free for them. The other aspect we focus on is nutrition. We try to provide healthy snacks, fruit and milk-based drinks to the children weekly. People choose to celebrate their special occasions by sponsoring and sharing a healthy meal with the children!   For more info.  Visit us @ :  http://www.parkshala.com

"I was in 7th when I got hit on the left #eye while playing. I was young and I knew I'd be scolded. So, out of fear, I didn't tell my parents. I patched it up with the help of a few friends. . About a year later, I started facing problems in the eye. So we went to the government #hospital in sector-31. They said it's a normal issue and gave me eye-drops. . The eye-drops didn't help. So, a few months later we visited ICare Hospital. They told us that it's retinal displacement. They could operate but can't promise anything. . We were shattered. This was way bigger than I had imagined. My father decided to get a second opinion. We went to RML Hospital, Delhi. They assured us that there would be 90% success rate. My family felt comforted and we decided to get the operation done. . 1 operation turned to 2 and when the 3rd operation got over last year, I had lost my vision. The doctors said the #retina is completely torn and detached. My fat...

"We used to live with my Nani in our village in Bihar. My parents, my younger brother, me.. all of us. My father was mentally unstable. He used to leave the house in frustration. All the medicines, visit to the doctors, everything took a toll on both him and my parents' savings. . One day, he stormed out as usual but never returned. My grandparents and uncles went to search for him but returned empty-handed. We don't know whether he's alive or dead. . All this happened when I was in Class V. Eventually my grandfather's cousin suggested moving to Delhi to her. He was already living here and it gave her hope. We spent 2 more years in Bihar but it was very difficult for my mother because she was all alone in the city. . She started working as a healthcare assist to the elderly. Her salary is INR 9000. She returns home around 8-8.30 PM. She is very tired by the time she comes home. . Moving from Bihar hasn't been easy. People make fun of my accent. I had m...

"I want to be an #artist . Till 6 months ago, my family didn't #support me. Their words were, "ye hum logo ke shauk nahi hai. Kya hoga isse?" (These aren't the kind of things we indulge in. What's the point?) . Their logic is not wrong. We were a family of 7. With my elder siblings married, it's 5 of us now. My father works as a security guard. He earns INR 10,000. It's not enough so he took up a job in a cafe. His timings were 7 PM - 2 AM. . When it started taking a toll on his health, as the son, I took matters in my own hands and started working at the cafe on his behalf. They used to pay me INR 3000 per month. . My parents started supporting me when my school awarded me for my paintings. They had pride in their eyes! They saw that it's my natural talent! My father saved for 3 months to buy me a new set of paints and brushes. It's been the best gift I've ever received!" 😍 - Shivakant , 15 years.
