THEATRE WORKSHOP

Image
Once academics were stabilized, we started exploring options for all-round, holistic development. We have collaborated with different individuals and organizations across various fields to conduct workshops for the children. In 2018, we conducted a workshop almost every month. ·              "Theatre Workshop" was conducted by Mr. Dipesh Khushalani, who has years of experience in Nukkad Natak and street plays. The children learnt about various features an actor should be able to incorporate, like team-play and perspective, in theatre.

We are stoked to share with you all that on the auspicious occasion of Gurupurab, @Parkshala in collaboration with Nikhaar Foundation opened up its new Holistic Development Center at Vivekananda Park, Andrewsganj(Delhi)  . With the inclusion of 50+ kids from the new Center, our total strength across the 3 branches is now 300+ . So grateful for everyone who's been instrumental in making this happen!

Teaching Values-NGO mentor program

Alongwith academics, Parkshala also focuses on value education and character-building. The environment at most of these children's homes is not conducive for learning and they lack good role-models in their lives. These kids will soon be the youth of India and it is immensely crucial to have compassionate, well-behaved, diligent and honest souls on the streets. ·           13 of our students our YPV level 1 practitioners trained by Yoga Prana Vidya, an organization that follows and teaches the healing practices taught by Grand Master Choa Kok Sui ·           Regular meditation and forgiveness exercises are conducted ·           Moral stories are read out to the younger children ·           Cleanliness drives within the park are undertaken every month ·            Hygiene is talked about and emphasized upon regularly

Children’s Day celebrations

Image
On Children’s Day, our younglings were pampered crazy much by @farzicafe and @loperaindia . The experience was not only gastronomical but also amplified their learning curve- they learnt about table manners, palette cleansers and some of them were even grooving to “Girls like you”  😁💃 . Socio economic status does make some of us more privileged and our exposure heightened than the others but the real joy is in becoming a real life Santa and gifting memorable experiences to those who will value them the most. We thank @qauseindia and @avin.c for the  # massiveqause . Our kids couldn’t stop talking about their lunch date.  👫 . Every kid has the capability to soar high and each one of us has the capability to become the wind beneath their wings. It's all about what you choose! http://www.parkshala.com/

Self-Defence

Image
Reported crimes of violence against women and children in India are increasing. News of eve-teasing, molestation and rape have become commonplace. With children's safety in mind, we embarked upon a collaboration with Safe Campus, a self-defense organization with modules specially designed for children and teenagers. ·           Conducted once a week ·           Techniques taught to improve both mental and physical strengths ·           Boys are counselled and taught to not be perpetrators of such crimes and to stand up for the women/children against whom these crimes are being committed ·           Girls are counselled to defend and stand up for themselves and those around them

Happy Children's Day

Children Education Noida

“I acknowledge my issues, I’m working on it and I am a work in progress”. We hear this from our Founder, @priya , a zillion times and no we don’t get irritated one bit.   . Santosh is from Bihar and he moved to Noida almost 3 years ago. He was mocked a lot for his accent by the kids at school. He withdrew into a shell but to our delight, he eventually found a way around all the mockery and decided to take a step forward towards self-development.   .  He is tutored by our amazing new volunteer Devansh (who's doing a fabulous job as we can see!) and here is a snippet of Santosh being grateful for all that @priya has done for him. Here's hoping this restores his self-confidence so that the world can see him shine!
