We are stoked to share with you all that on the auspicious occasion of Gurupurab, @Parkshala in collaboration with Nikhaar Foundation opened up its new Holistic Development Center at Vivekananda Park, Andrewsganj(Delhi)  . With the inclusion of 50+ kids from the new Center, our total strength across the 3 branches is now 300+ . So grateful for everyone who's been instrumental in making this happen!

We celebrated our 73rd   # IndependenceDay   on 15th August. We might have gained freedom but are we truly free? . We asked our kids and staff to share their views and interestingly, no one said that they're truly free! It's not just the girls, boys too! . Some aren't free to study as much as they want because they have the sword of   # marriage   hanging over their heads. Some aren't free to be their   # authentic   selves because they fear   # judgment . Many girls aren't free to learn a   # sport   they want because "Have you seen a girl running around like that in our samaaj?" . At Parkshala, we are trying to break all these societal shackles that have created mental blocks. We are trying to counsel the parents into giving their children a chance. We are trying to give these children a taste of what freedom could be. We are trying to raise a non-judgmental, non-biased, authentic generation that truly is   # FREE !   😍 🌸 🇮🇳 ...

"We used to live with my Nani in our village in Bihar. My parents, my younger brother, me.. all of us. My father was mentally unstable. He used to leave the house in frustration. All the medicines, visit to the doctors, everything took a toll on both him and my parents' savings. . One day, he stormed out as usual but never returned. My grandparents and uncles went to search for him but returned empty-handed. We don't know whether he's alive or dead. . All this happened when I was in Class V. Eventually my grandfather's cousin suggested moving to Delhi to her. He was already living here and it gave her hope. We spent 2 more years in Bihar but it was very difficult for my mother because she was all alone in the city. . She started working as a healthcare assist to the elderly. Her salary is INR 9000. She returns home around 8-8.30 PM. She is very tired by the time she comes home. . Moving from Bihar hasn't been easy. People make fun of my accent. I had m...
